Rainbow Project Sioux Falls Selected as 2025 Kindness in Community Fund Grant Recipient

Rainbow Project Sioux Falls is thrilled to announce that out of more than 4,000 nominations worldwide, we have been selected as a 2025 Kindness in Community Fund grant recipient, supporting youth mental health and well-being in our community.

This program, created by Born This Way Foundation, co-founded by Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta and supported by funders including Pivotal, Cotton On Foundation, Sephora, Haus Labs, and others—provides grants to grassroots organizations across 11 countries, including the United States, to strengthen local mental health resources and programming. This grant will directly support our work in creative workshops, peer connection opportunities, and wellness centered programming for LGBTQ2S+ youth and other marginalized young people.

“We are deeply honored to be selected for this year’s Kindness in Community Fund,”

“This grant affirms our credibility as a vital community resource and strengthens our ability to build meaningful partnerships with local organizations. Together, we can create a more supportive, accepted, and connected Sioux Falls for LGBTQ2S+ youth and other marginalized young people.”

Exciting News for Rainbow Project Sioux Falls!

We are thrilled to share that the Rainbow Project Sioux Falls will be expanding its presence in Sioux Falls in the coming year. This growth will allow us to offer more programming, deepen community connections, and increase support for LGBTQ2S+ youth, their families, and young members of other marginalized communities.

With this expansion, we will be hosting a variety of activities, workshops, and community events throughout the year. We are especially excited to strengthen our partnership with Sioux Falls Pride as we work together to bring more inclusive and affirming opportunities to LGBT2S+ young people in our community.

Planned activities include:

Family Hangouts at Prism Community Center: Fun, welcoming events are created especially for our youngest LGBTQ2S+ community members (under 12) and their families. We’re also planning a little “parent pampering” time during these gatherings.

Ceramics & Graphic Design Classes: Held at Augustana University and taught by Augustana art professors who specialize in ceramics and graphic design. These classes will be open to youth and teens.

Beginner Digital Photography Classes: Participants will learn foundational skills, and final projects will be exhibited for the community to enjoy.

All events are always free! Just come as you are, feel welcome, and enjoy being part of a supportive, affirming community.

Stay tuned for more details and how to sign up!

We also look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Prism Community Center, whose welcoming space has allowed us to host events that foster connection, creativity, and belonging. Together, we aim to provide a supportive environment for both youth and their parents.

2026 is shaping up to be an incredible year for the Rainbow Project Sioux Falls, and we can’t wait to share more updates soon!

Sending love, light, and gratitude to our community this holiday season.

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to share that the AIDS Quilt panel has arrived safely. While our original plan was to feature it during our World AIDS Day event, a lack of community response and donations made it necessary for us to cancel the event . We want to extend our sincere gratitude to Equality South Dakota for their generous contribution in support of this effort.

The quilt panel was sent to us in good faith, and we remain committed to honoring it with the care and respect it deserves. We are currently exploring alternative ways to display the panel, create a meaningful event around it, and responsibly manage the associated shipping costs.

Although a date has not yet been confirmed, we are aiming to host an event in January or February. The cancellation has allowed us additional time with the panel, and we hope to work closely with the Prism Community Center and Quilting Allies to plan an impactful display that engages and uplifts our community.

Thank you for your understanding.
